Description
In September of 1985, a legendary basketball player collaborated with a footwear brand to create an iconic sneaker known as the Air 1 High. This sneaker marked a significant shift in the business of footwear and became the foundation of an enduring legacy. Recently, the creative team at the same brand paid tribute to the player’s rebellious spirit, which was evident when he wore his first signature sneaker on the basketball court, despite violating league rules.
The new sneaker pays homage to the classic Air 1 Shadow colorway and color blocking, featuring a distressed leather upper and lettering printed throughout the design. The Shadow section of the sneaker is emblazoned with the phrase “They Can’t Stop You From Wearing Them,” inspired by the 1985 Air 1 commercial. Additionally, red Xs on the heel resemble the Air 1 Banned, while a white midsole and Shadow outsole complete the shoe’s design.
